About Me

I'm Dilum Darshana, a Senior/Lead Full-Stack Engineer with over 15 years of experience building scalable, cloud-native web applications and leading engineering teams. I specialise in Node.js, React.js, TypeScript, and AWS, with a strong focus on backend architecture, distributed systems, and building production-ready software.

My career started in traditional web development, but I quickly moved toward JavaScript/TypeScript-based full-stack engineering and eventually into technical leadership and architecture. Over the years, I've designed and delivered production systems using microservices, serverless architectures, REST APIs, event-driven systems, and cloud-native infrastructure.

I'm particularly experienced with AWS, including Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, API Gateway, and SQS. I also work with Docker, Terraform, and GitHub Actions, along with modern CI/CD practices to build and deploy reliable systems. On the frontend, I work primarily with React and Next.js, building maintainable and performant user interfaces.

In recent years, I've been increasingly focused on Generative AI and AI-powered software engineering. I've been exploring and building practical systems using LLMs, RAG, LangChain, LangGraph, Pinecone, Hugging Face, and Model Context Protocol (MCP). My interest is not simply in integrating AI into applications, but in understanding how AI agents, tools, retrieval, memory, and evaluation can be incorporated into real-world software architectures.

As a technical leader, I enjoy mentoring developers, making architectural decisions, improving engineering practices, and helping teams deliver complex features effectively. I've led cross-functional teams, worked with distributed teams across time zones, and collaborated closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

I currently hold two active AWS certifications: AWS Certified Developer – Associate and AWS Certified Security – Specialty. I also previously held the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification.

Outside of client and professional work, I enjoy sharing knowledge and building open-source and portfolio projects that combine software engineering, cloud architecture, and AI. I'm particularly interested in opportunities where I can contribute as a Senior Engineer, Technical Lead, or Software Architect while continuing to build practical AI-powered systems.
